Explain the difference between energy and powerand how

they are related to work. Give examples ofeach.

    Power:Power can be defined as the time rate at which work is done or

    or power is defined as the time rate of transfer of energy

    Example of power: (i) When a pump lift a mass of water through a vertical height in a give period of time.

    (Ii) Power is developed when a car traveling at a constant speed, over comes a constant frictional resistance.

    While

    Work: Work is said to be done whenever a force moves a body through a certain distance in the direction of force, and is equal to the product of force and the distance moved.

    Examples of Work: (i) Work is done when a lump of stone is drag through a certain distance.

    (ii) Work is done when a mass of stone falls from a height.
