A 60-kg block initially at rest on a frictionless horizontal surface is acted upon by a force of 3.0 N for a distance of 7.0 m. How much kinetic energy does the block gain?

    Kinetic energy generated = work done by force = force x displacement

    = 3 x 7 = 21 J
