Calculate the power dissipated by a resistor when the voltage across the resistor is 10 V and the current through the resistor is 1 A (P=IV). What is the resistance of the resistor (V=IR) ?

    Given that

    Voltage difference = 10 V

    Current, I = 1 A

    We know that

    Voltage difference = Current x Resistance

    ΔV = I R

    Now by putting the values in the above equation

    10 = 1 x R

    R = 10 ohm

    We know that, Power P given that

    P = V I

    Now by putting the values in the above equation

    P = 10 x 1 W

    P = 10 W

    Power dissipated, P = 10 W

    R = 10 ohm
