What is the driving force for the movement of solutes in the phloem of plants?

    The answer is; active transport

    Active transport is the main driving force of symplastic transport in plants. The living protoplasm of cells (connected together through plasmodesmata) in the phloem tissue is greatly involved unlike in the transport of water through apoplastic transport.
