A 55W light bulb will allow 0.5A to flow through it. If the outlet provides a potential difference of 110V, how much resistance is provided by the bulb?

    Explanation: given that

    Power P = 55W

    Current I = 0.5A

    Potential difference V = 110V,

    Using the formula

    P = IV = V^2/R

    55 = 110^2/R

    R = 12100 / 55

    R = 220 ohms
