In chemistry class, you are given 3 liquids: Liquid A, Liquid B, and Liquid C. They are each in their own beaker. One of these liquids is water which has a denisty of 1.0 g/mL. You also have an ice cube with a density of 0.92 g/mL, and a piece of cork with a density of 0.85 g/mL When all 3 liquids are mixed together, liquid B is on the bottom. The ice cube will float in B and sink in the other two liquids. A piece of cork will float in Liquid A but sink in Liquid C. What is the approximate density of Liquid A?

A. Less than 0.85 g/mL

B. Between 0.92 g/mL and 1.0 g/mL

C. Greater than 1.0 g/mL

D. Between 0.85 g/mL and 0.92 g/mL

    D. Between. 85 and. 92 g/mL.

    Explanation:

In liquid A, ice sinks that means its density is less than that of ice or less than. 92 g/mL. But in liquid A, piece of cork floats, that means its density is more than that of cork or. 85 g/mL. Therefore we can say that liquid A has density in between. 92 and. 85 g/mL.
