The electric field inside a battery generates an electric potential difference of 12 V. The plates are separated by a distance of 0.25 m. What is the strength of the electric field?

    The electric field across the plates is defined by

    E = V / d ... where V is the potential difference and d the distance that separates the plates.

    E = 12 Volts / 0.25 meters = 48 V/m
