Explain why you can hear your friends talking in a classroom before you turn the corner.

    Sound travels in waves so it bounces off of things and gets absorbed as it does so (some things absorb more than others)

    The sound bounces around, and reaches your ears. Imagine if everything was a mirror, and you shone a light. Everywhere nearby would light up. It's the same with sound - it bounces around, so anyone in the nearby area can hear it!
