    Explanation:

    Modern model of atom was given by Rutherford's.

    The experiment performed by him was gold foil experiment.

    In his experiment, he took gold foil and bombarded it with alpha rays which were positively charged particles.

    From this he observed that many of the alpha particles passed the atom, some of them deflected their path and a few of them were bounced back.

    He then concluded that atom has a lot of empty space but there exist a small positive charge at the center and he named it as nucleus.
