Define the wavelength of sound in terms of successive compressions of air

    The distance between successive compression waves of air is the wavelength at which the sound travels. As sound is created, the air is compressed and travels out in all directions. The distance it will travel depends on the frequency. The higher the frequency, the shorter the wavelength.
