    To calculate the equivalent resistance of the two resistors Req

    Req = 1: 1 / r1 + 1/r2

    = 1 / 1/100 + 1/200

    =66.67 ohm

    To calculate the power dissipated by the 100 ohm resistor

    1/RT = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2

    = 1 / 100 + 1 / 200

    =4 / 400 + 2 / 400

    = 6 / 400

    RT = 400 / 6

    = 66.67 ohm

    p₍max₎ = I * V P = I² * R

    P = V² / RT

    = 10² / 66.67

    = 100 / 66.67

    P = 1.49 watts

    Thus the power dissipated is 1.49 watts.
