Drive-reduction theory

Explanation:

Clark Hull developed drive-reduction theory in 1943. A drive causes us to be in a state of psychological tension. This is caused because we need something. Our drives causes us to do things that satisfies our needs. Homeostasis is the state in which the internal conditions of our body is in a steady state.

Our body temperature is 37° Celsius, in order for us to maintain homeostasis we start sweating and are in a state of discomfort. We have the drive not to feel hot. So, in order to keep cool we go to the refrigerator for a cool drink.
