As a result of Earth's rotation, we see the Sun rise in the east and set in the west, and the Sun appears to move across the sky from east to west during the course of the day. Looking down at the north pole, does Earth rotate clockwise or counter clockwise?

    Looking down at the north pole, does Earth rotate counter clockwise.

    Explanation:

    Rotation refers to the spinning of earth on its own axis. It go on from west to east that results in sun rising in the east and sun setting in the west. That means apparent movement of earth go on in the sky from east to west. So we see the sun's overhead position at 12 noon.

    But if we look down at north pole we will see the earth rotates in counter clock wise for its elliptical shape and orbit. Earth's axis is also not a straight line it inclines in 23.5 degree. That is also a reason of seeing the rotation in counter clockwise in the north pole.
