A paratrooper whose parachute fails to open lands in snow; he is hurt slightly. Had he landed on bare ground, the stopping time would have been 10 times shorter and the collision lethal. A) Change in momentum remains unchanged

    B) Impulse remains unchanged

    C) Average force decreases 10 times

    Explanation:

    A) The presence of snow does not change the momentum because the initial momentum is the same as final momentum.

    B) impulse is equal to change in momentum. Since the presence of snow doesn't affect the change in momentum, it doesn't also affect the impulse.

    C) The presence of snow would cause a decrease in average force stopping the paratrooper because since impulse is unchanged and Δt increased 10 times, then the

    force must decrease 10times.
