    The transfer of thermal energy, is defined as heat, the higher the temperature, the greater the capacity to transfer heat, therefore it is said that the temperature is one measure of the ability to transfer thermal energy.

    The temperature of an ideal gas is proportional to the average kinetic energy of its molecules. That is, their translational motion. For diatomic gases, rotational and vibrational motions must also be taken into account.
