The table below shows the amount of force acting on the same mass and the resulting acceleration. Review the table.

Force Acceleration

0 N 0 m/s2

150 N 1 m/s2

200 N 1.3 m/s2

250 N 1.6 m/s2

350 N 2.3 m/s2

400 N 2.6 m/s2

What is the relationship between force and acceleration as supported by the data table when mass is constant?

A) force is inversely proportional to acceleration

B) force is directly proportional to acceleration

C) acceleration decreases when force increases

D) force is unrelated to acceleration and motion

    B

    Explanation:

we could clearly see that the acceleration increases with the increasing force.

lets consider the Force/acceleration ratio of each set

    1) - not defined

    2) 150 / 1 = 150

    3) 200 / 1.3 = 153.8

    4) 250 / 1.6 = 156.25

    5) 350 / 2.3 = 152.17

    6) 400 / 2.6 = 153.85

Here we can see the F / a ratios are almost same in each set except set 1) we can neglect it as both values are zero

so we can say that there is a direct propotionality between Force and acceleration (B)
