Harriet is told by her doctor that her heart rate is 70.0 beats per minute. If Harriet's average blood flow in the aorta during systole is 1.5*10^ - 2 m/s, what is the wavelength of the waves of blood in Harriet's aorta, created by her beating heart?

    From v = fλ where v = speed of wave = blood flow rate = 1.5 * 10⁻² m/s and f = frequency of wave = heart rate = 70 beats per minute = 70/60 beats per second and λ = wavelength of waves in Harriet's aorta.

    λ = v/f = 1.5 * 10⁻² m/s : 70/60 beats per second

    = 6 * 1.5 * 10⁻²/7

    = 1.29 * 10⁻² m

    = 12.9 mm
