It will remain at rest. It will move in the direction opposite the net force. It will move slowly at first, then speed up. It will move in the direction of the net force.

The golf ball is initially at rest. A net force of 8 N will cause the ball to move in the direction of the force. The golf ball will first speed up and then slowly come to rest. As the force exerted by the golfer will act for a moment, after which only air resistance will act on the ball which causes it to slow down.
