An osprey's call is a distinct whistle at 2200 Hz. An osprey calls while diving at you, to drive you away from her nest. You hear the call at 2300 Hz. How fast is the osprey approaching?

    Given: 2200 Hz whistle from osprey’s call

    2300 Hz you were able to hear osprey’s call

    Solution:

    Velocity = 340 x (2300 - 2200) / 2300

    Velocity = 340 x 100/2300

    Velocity = 340 x 0.043

    Velocity = 14.78 m/s
