In the bathroom of your house you would like to run a 300 W hot wax heater, a 30 W electric razor, a 1080 W curling iron, and four 120 W lights. Assuming your house is wired for 120 Volts, how much current will be pulled by these electrical devices

    P = VI ... Equation 1

    Where P = power, V = Voltage, I = current.

    make I the subject of the equation

    I = P/V ... Equation 2

    Total Power = 300+30+1080+120 = 1530 W.

    Given: P = 1530 W, V = 120 V

    Substitute into equation 2

    I = 1530/120

    I = 12.75 A.

    Hence the current is = 12.75 A
