A system does 203 J of work on its environment and gains 96.8 J of heat in the process. Find the change in the internal energy of (a) the system and (b) the environment.

    We know that

    ΔU = 96.8 - 203 J

    ΔU = - 106.2 J

    The change in the internal energy of the system = - 106.2 J
