Jake boils some water to make a cup of tea.

He uses a 5 kW kettle that takes 2 minutes to boil the water.

a) Calculate how much energy Jake used, in kWh, to boil the water. Show your working.

b) Another unit that measures the energy used is the joule. Calculate how much energy Jake used in joules.

    Power = energy / time so energy is power * time

    = 5 * (2/60)

    you have to convert the minutes to hours and 60 mins make 1 hour.

    =5 * (1/30)

    =5 * 0.033

    =0.1667kW

    energy is power*time

    = 5 * (2*60)

    you convert minutes to seconds.

    =5 * 120

    =600J
