Force on the cart = (cart's mass) x (cart's acceleration)

    16 N = (19 kg) x (acceleration)

    Acceleration of the cart = 16 N / 19 kg = 0.842 m/s²

How many seconds did it have to accelerate at the rate of 0.842 m/s²

in order to increase its speed by 8 m/s?

    (8 m/s) / (0.842 m/s²) = 9.5 seconds
