In 2002, there were 2,058,000 male and 1,964,000 female live births. It makes no sense to calculate a confidence interval for the percent of male births in the United States. Why not? a) inference is unnecessary for a whole population b) we are given whole numbers not percents c) the percentage will change in 2003 d) the percentage should be 50% and it is not in this case.
