Bronfen Brenner was a developmental psychologist who studied how systems of social relationships affect child development across the lifespan. Bronfenbrenner's model describes how the child is simultaneously "acted upon" by environments that are both near (proximal) and far (distal). All primary influences would thus fall under the proximal system.
