    A socially defined position in a group or in society is called a social status. With that definition, it is also added as the society having expectations, rights and duties with respect to the society. There are types of statuses. An achieved status when a person is determined based on his achievements, abilities, choices, etc. He is rewarded and respected by his merits. An ascribed status is when a person is gets respect from society because of his family, ancestors, etc.
