Law enforcement professionals and investigators use digital forensic methods to solve crimes every day. Locate one current news article that explains how investigators may have used these techniques to solve a crime. Explain the crime that was solved and the methods used to determine how the crime was committed. Some examples of crimes solved may include locating missing children, finding criminals who have fled the scene of a crime, or unsolved crimes from the past that have been solved due to the use of new techniques (such as DNA testing).

This is a question that only you can answer, as it asks you to locate a current news article. However, we can provide an example of an answer that can serve as inspiration for your research.

I will use the example of the trial of Theodore John Kaczynski, also known as the "Unabomber." He was a terrorist and mathematics professor who was responsible of the death of three people and the injuries of 23 due to a nationwide bombing campaign. Throughout this campaign, he wrote letters to newspapers to explain his reasoning.

Law enforcement professionals were eventually able to link the Unabomber to the bombings through linguistic analysis of his essays and letters. After the publication of an essay, Kaczynski's brother David recognized the writing style. This was a revolutionary path in forensics and ended the longest and most expensive investigation in the history of the FBI.
