shielding can be used as a protective action fro radiation because: Moving away from the radiation source will reduce exposure.

Radiation could effect our body because it could be absorbed through our skin tissue and destroy our cells from within. By maintaining our distance from the radiation source or by putting a solid object to shield us, we prevent this absorption from happening.
