The research study was designed to investigate whether flashbulb memories are more likely than ordinary memories to be accurate and consistent over time.

Flashbulb memories refers to the type of memories that exist in a form of vivid 'snapshots' from the event that we witnessed visually. This often created when the visual trigger that we see is extremely rare/unusual.
