On March 5, 1770, British officers let go on a horde of pilgrims in Boston. This episode, known as the Boston Massacre, incensed American homesteaders. However John Adams, future leader of the United States and cousin of Boston Patriot-pioneer Sam Adams, wound up protecting a gathering of detested British fighters at their trials.
