So, more of a personal question than homework. In light of the presidential debates someone just called me a conservative (not in a bad way) but I've always referred to myself as a republican ... Can someone explain to me the difference so I know what party I truly identify with?

A conservative is one who would like to keep things the way they are; to stay where they are rather than changing things.

A Republican is one who is in favor of the Republican Party and there ideas.

    Good luck and farewell, madam.
