The high rate of gun-related violence in the United States is pervasive across all subcultures and minority populations. Many states have "open carry" laws that permit the individual to carry a weapon in public. Such approaches may not suffice, however, especially when we consider that in some countries, such as Switzerland, guns are easy to obtain but the rate of violent crime is significantly lower. What do sociologists see as the likely explanation for the high rate of gun violence in America

    The high rate of gun-related violence in the United States is pervasive across all subcultures and minority populations. What do sociologists see as the likely explanation for the high rate of gun violence in America.

    It is as a result of cultural and traditional attitude in the United state towards Gun ownership which started since the good Old Wild-West, coupled with the subcultures of manliness and violence in various city population as a result of incremental in gangs, inequality.

    According to Small Arm Survey, it was reported that there are about over one billion small arms distributed globally and of which 857 million of the firearm are in civilian hand (about 85 percent), it was also reported that United States citizens alone account for about 393 million which 46 percent of the worldwide total of civilian held firearms.

    Switzerland account for about 2 million or thereabout which is 27.6 percent.

    Many studies has associate higher rate of gun ownership with high death rate form either violence, homicide rate.
