The high rate of gun-related violence in the United States is pervasive across all subcultures and minority populations. Many states have "open carry" laws that permit the individual to carry a weapon in public. Such approaches may not suffice, however, especially when we consider that in some countries, such as Switzerland, guns are easy to obtain but the rate of violent crime is significantly lower.
