    The correct answer for this question is C - the statement that best describes emotions that that they are feelings which are triggered by thoughts and events. The other three statements that are put forward as possible answers for this questions are all false, in that emotions do happen for a reason, they are often noticed by others, and they can provide an insight into a person's mental well being.
