What aspects of civilization were part of Sumerian society?

It might be said that Sumerian society emerged from the plain of Tigris and Euphrates Rivers about 4000 B. C. The communities were city states organized around a temple and rules by a priesthood. People were servants and slaves of the god of the temple. There also was a class of craftsmen, priests and peasants.
