Where were many of the Arab trade routes established during the Middle Ages?

    I believe the answer is: Near the rivers and the coast.

    At that time, we still developed any inventions that make us able to travel in large distance with little time and resource such as trains.

    Because of this, travelling with boats/ships became the primary methods for the traders to went into a far region.
