Bicameralism means having a 2 house legislature (in the US this is the House of Representative and the Senate). Federalism is the division of power between the central government and state or local governments, the idea of federalism is to keep any part of the government from becoming too powerful. A bicameral legislature prevents one house from becoming too powerful by making sure they check each other and approve of the laws or bills the other one is creating.
