The correct answer is C) they wanted improvements in infrastructure.

Many westerners voted for John Motley Morehead because they wanted improvements in infrastructure.

John Motley Morehead (1796-1866) was the preferred candidate of the people of North Carolina and was elected the 29th governor of the state. His tenure started in 1841 and ended in 1845 and he worked very hard to attend people's necessities and improve the infrastructure conditions of the state to the degree that people supported and approved his administration. He was considered the "father of modern North Carolina."
