What was the importance of the supreme court having its own independent building?

    It is important because the Supreme Court, the seat of the judicial branch of the American government, should be distinct and separate from the other branches of the government; the Court should never be influenced or swayed by either the Legislative or the Executive branch in order to provide unbiased opinions. For a fair portion of the nation's early history, the Supreme Court was located within the Capitol Building. However, today the court is seated in an independent building across the street from the Capitol.
