Nationalism encouraged people with a shared identity to declare war on all those who did not share their beliefs. separate themselves from those who were unlike them. be open to other people's traditions, ideas, and beliefs. convince other people to share their common bonds.

    Nationalism encouraged people with a shared identity to separate themselves from those who were unlike them. Of course, this did create a war or a few hundred of them, but there were examples of nationalist states that just separated themselves and kept their isolationism politics without attacking others.
