A Fault is a planar fracture or discontinuity in a volume of rock across which there has been significant displacement as a result of rock-mass movement.
Explanation:
Faults are cracks in the earth where sections of the tectonic plate move in different directions. Faults are more common near the edges of the plate. The formation of more and frequent Fault results in the earthquake. The faulting prone zone is called Fault Zones. These Fault zones may be small in inches or can travel long distant miles. The Faults are of three types based upon its occurrence. the types are Dip slip, Strike-slip, Oblique slip.
