It is important for early childhood caregivers, and care givers in general, to take care of themselves in order to ensure the best possible service to the recipient (s) of their care. If one is unwell physically, mentally, or emotionally it is hard to provide care to another.

Taking care of yourself could include consistent physical activity, stimulating socialization, intake of proper nutrition, quiet/alone time to de-stress, listening to music, remaining organized, proper time management, maintain proper grooming and hygiene, and finding time to participate in liked activities.
