    Charlemagne is known as Karl or Charles the great who ruled western Europe and hence he is called the Father of Europe.

    Explanation:

    Charlemagne became the king of Franks, a Germanic tribe which survived in Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and western Germany. He took up a mission to unite the German tribes in all this lands and he intended to spread Christianity in his kingdom.

    In personal life he had many wives and he motivated his children to get educated. he loved daughters to such an extent that he stopped them from getting married. Einhard, who is the Frankish historian, in his record he quotes that Charles the Great is broad and strong on his physique. He has a fat neck and a large belly. He was a great protector of Christianity. He donated much lands to church and protected the popes. He promoted education and encouraged the Carolingian renaissance which laid importance on restoring the culture.
