    1.) Romanticism was all about the feelings. Nature was especially important, and they did not like the mathematics. For example Walt Whitman was an american author during the romanticism period, and he wrote "when i heard the learn'd astronomer", which portrayed the general feelings of malice to those who viewed the world through the lens of reason.

    2.) Rousseau and Kant made many individuals question and appreciate their individuality. Their writing spread their beliefs clearly and effectively.

    3.) Writers in the romantic period preferred poetry because of it's sense of freedom and spirit

    4.) In the romantic period, there was a connection with nature known as transcendentalism. Unlike Protestantism and enlightenment t hey believed that god was in the nature around them and he spoke through the environment.
