Researchers want to see if playing with a specific toy increases the verbal abilities of young children. One group of children plays with the new toy for 4 hours a week over a month and is given a vocabulary test at the end of the experiment. The other group of matched pairs follows the same schedule, but these children play outside instead of with the toy. Is there an experimental group? Which one?

Yes; it's the kids who play with the toy.

    Explanation:

Experimental group: In research, the term experimental group is also known as a treatment group, and is defined as a particular group that encounters a treatment in a particular experiment by the researcher or experimenter.

An experimental group consists of different test subjects including plants, human beings, and animals, etc and the treatment in the experimental group is the variable that an experimenter or the researcher is studying.

In the question above, an experimental group is present and is the kids who play with the toy.
