    Most Europeans were Christian.

    Explanation:

Europeans were mostly Catholic (or Protestant) Christians, that is, they believed in one God, in addition to believing that Jesus Christ was the messiah.

When Europeans invaded America, they encountered several Indian tribes with very different religions and different gods. For Europeans this was extremely wrong and for this reason Europeans forced Indians to convert to Christianity and adopt the Catholic faith or Protestant customs.
