Women's suffrage was the protest for women to vote. Alice Walker was an incredible women's rights leader at the time. The international council of women began and even protested in front of the white house even as men came back from war and the women recieved harsh feedback for that. Alice walker went to prison as a political martyr almost and went on a hunger strike in prison. The media was rampant and many thought she was mentally insane (although she wasnt.) Extreme protests continued without her at public events, women spoke with political leaders and journalists, and women finally received the right to vote in 1920.
