What is the meaning of the word Jihad in Islam? Select two distinct sects of Islam and explain key differences/similarities in the interpretation and practices of this term. What role, if any, does Jihad serve in the sects you have selected, in today's world? How has this role changed from previous historical time periods and/or how has it remained the same?

    word jihad for muslims means struggle, it means struggle to attain a holy life, struggle to live as Islam has laid down and struggle to fight for the cause of Islam even if it include violence.

    We have two sects of Islam named the suuni and shia

    Sunni comes from Al-sunnah and this are the people who believed that after prophet Muhammad have died he should be survive by the first caliph.

    The shia are those who believed that the linage of prophet Mohammed son in-law should survive the prophet as the head.

    The Islam sects have always believed in struggle to survive and protect their religion hence, there have been a increase on the high side of various terrorists activities with claim of struggling to protect their interest.

    The Jihad struggle have become more prominent this time compare to early days. Both group have moved to various end of the country to cause severe attacks.
