It permits a thorough check of the planned data collection and analysis procedures

    Explanation:

A pilot study is one of the essential stages in a research project. A pilot study is a small study which incorporates the actual research protocols but the test is carried on in a simulated environment. The results that obtained from the pilot study proves to be the base whether to go ahead with the actual research or not.

Sometimes the result of the pilot study would be so convincing that the researcher can use the results of the pilot study in the actual study, thus reducing the number of participants needed.
