    Ulysees S. Grant was the name of the Union general who defeated General Robert E. Lee's army. Lee later surrendered to Grant at the Appomattox Court House. Grant had a reputation for being a butcher in combat, creating elaborate scenarios in battle where he could hundreds of people.
