Is it legal for a creditor to deny an applicant credit based on marital status or age?

    I believe the answer is: NO, it is not

    In 1974, the government passed The Equal Credit Opportunity Act to provide united states citizens with a more fair credit system.

    Because of this act, it is illegal to not granting a credit based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, or age.
